Your first session may include a full assessment, discussion of symptoms, and gentle exercises or internal work.
No Weird Vibes. No Shame. Just Expert Care for the Most Overlooked Part of Your Body.
Let’s be honest — the idea of pelvic floor physiotherapy can feel… intimidating.
Most people don’t even know what it is until they’re dealing with:
- Pee leaks during workouts
- Pain with sex
- Postpartum issues
- Pelvic heaviness
- Unexplained low back or hip pain
- Constipation or painful periods
And then comes the big question:
“Wait… what actually happens during a pelvic physio session?”
At YFS (Your Form Sux), we get it. So let’s break it down clearly — no awkwardness, no sugar-coating, just real talk about what to expect (and why it’s totally worth it).
First: What Is Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?
Pelvic physio is specialized physical therapy focused on the muscles, nerves, and connective tissues of the pelvic floor — the deep support system for your bladder, bowels, sexual function, posture, and core.
Pelvic issues aren’t just “female problems” or “postpartum stuff.”
We treat all genders, all body types, and all kinds of goals — from rehab to performance to pain relief.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
✅ Step 1: A Deep Dive Into Your History
We start with a private, respectful conversation about:
- Symptoms (pain, leaking, pressure, etc.)
- Medical history
- Birth or surgical experiences
- Training habits, posture, stress levels
- Bladder/bowel habits, sexual function, or anything relevant
You’re in full control — you can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. No pressure.
✅ Step 2: Movement + Postural Assessment
We check how your body moves:
- Breathing patterns
- Core activation
- Hip, low back, or glute function
- Standing, squatting, lifting mechanics
Why? Because your pelvic floor doesn’t work alone — it’s part of a team. We need to see how that team’s performing.
✅ Step 3: Optional Internal Exam (Only With Your Consent)
This part does not happen without your full consent and comfort — and it may not happen at all in the first session.
If it does, here’s what you need to know:
- It’s done internally via the vaginal or rectal canal, using a gloved, lubricated finger
- There are no stirrups, no speculum, and no tools
- We assess muscle tone, strength, tension, scar tissue, prolapse, and nerve response
- You’re in full control — you can stop at any time, ask questions, or choose an external-only exam
For some people, the internal exam is incredibly empowering. For others, it’s not the right time. Either is okay.
✅ Step 4: Personalized Treatment Plan
Based on what we find, we’ll map out a plan that could include:
- Internal or external manual therapy
- Breathing + core re-training
- Pelvic floor strengthening or relaxation (yes, relaxing is often the missing piece)
- Mobility drills
- Lifestyle tweaks (bowel habits, lifting form, posture, etc.)
We may also work alongside your physio, trainer, OB, or mental health provider to support the full picture.
Will It Be Awkward?
Surprisingly, no — at least not the way most people expect.
Our therapists are trained, regulated professionals who treat the pelvic floor the same way we treat shoulders or knees: with skill, respect, and science.
We keep it private, clear, and always in your control.
Final Word: Your Pelvic Floor Deserves Attention — Not Avoidance
You shouldn’t have to live with leaking, pain, or dysfunction just because no one talks about it.
At YFS, we make pelvic physio approachable, results-driven, and refreshingly normal.
Your body doesn’t suck — it’s just trying to tell you something. Let’s figure it out together.
