What to wear to a chiropractic appointment

Find out the best clothing choices for comfort and mobility during your chiropractic visit.

Chiropractic

So you booked your first appointment (solid move), and now you’re wondering: what the heck should you wear?

Good news — you don’t need to show up in full gym gear or wear anything fancy. But what you do wear can make a big difference in how easily we can assess your movement and actually get to work.

🧘‍♂️ Think: Comfortable + Flexible

Chiropractic care often involves hands-on adjustments, guided movement, or functional assessments — and that means clothes that move with you, not against you. Skip the stiff denim or anything you have to shimmy into.

Best picks:

  • Athletic wear (leggings, joggers, gym shorts, sweatpants)
  • Loose-fitting t-shirts or tank tops
  • Sports bras (especially for upper body or posture-focused work)
  • Zip-up hoodies or layers that are easy to remove if needed

We’re not running a fashion show — just make sure you’re comfy and able to move freely.

🛑 What Not to Wear

Save yourself the awkward shuffle and skip:

  • Tight jeans or skirts
  • Dresses (unless you have shorts underneath)
  • Belts, bulky zippers, or lots of layers
  • Jewelry that might get in the way (especially necklaces and dangly earrings)

Also, if you’re coming straight from work in office wear, no stress — just bring a change of clothes. We’ve got space for that.

🧦 Footwear Isn’t a Big Deal (But Socks Matter)

You’ll likely be asked to remove your shoes, especially if posture, gait, or lower body mobility is being assessed. So wear socks if you’d rather not go barefoot. Bonus points if they match, but honestly? We’ve seen it all.

🧍‍♀️ What About Assessments?

At YFS, we don’t just crack and send you home. We actually watch how you move — squat, bend, twist, balance — so we can figure out what your body’s doing (or not doing). That’s why flexible clothes matter. If you’re restricted by your outfit, we can’t get a full picture.

TL;DR? Wear clothes you can move in.

If you’d wear it to yoga, the gym, or the couch — it’s probably perfect.

Still unsure? Just ask. Our team’s here to make sure your first visit is smooth, stress-free, and actually helpful. Because yes, your form might sux — but your outfit doesn’t have to.
